Today’s Communion Bread was baked by the St. John’s and St. Stephen’s youth group as a gift to our two churches. This bread contains milk; if you have a dairy allergy, please ask for a wafer when you receive communion. Gluten-free wafers are available, as always.
Sunday School and Youth Roundtable – Meet us in the Atrium around 10:00 for Sunday School! We use the interactive Godly Play program to teach stories from our tradition in a hands-on manner. We’ll be in Classroom 2, on the 3rd floor by the unfinished room. Middle and high schoolers, meet in the Atrium at 10:00 for Youth Roundtable. We’ll walk to a bakery in Old Worthington for fellowship, discussion of the Bible readings for the day, and a sweet treat.
Youth Group meets Sundays at 2 p.m. – We meet weekly, along with youth from St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. This week we’ll gather in the Carriage House from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. 6th -12th graders welcome, and there will be snacks!
Celtic Service Today – Please join us in the Atrium at 5 pm on Sunday, March 5, for a Celtic Taizé Evening Service in Lent. This is a quiet, meditative, and intimate service with music and meditation based on the Iona Abbey Worship Book. It will be followed by a time of fellowship and hospitality. We welcome all St. John’s parishioners and friends from outside our church family to join our Celtic circle to mark the beginning of our Lenten journey toward Easter. ~ The Celtic Fellowship
Episcopal 101 Meets Wednesdays – It’s not too late to join our Lent series, Episcopal 101, which meets on Wednesday evenings, March 1 through April 12 (skipping April 5) at 7:00pm in Kilbourne Hall. If you did not sign up in advance, please acquire copies of Walk in Love by Scott Gunn and Melody Wilson Shobe and the 1979 Book of Common Prayer. If you asked Gia to order books for you, you may pick them up in the cardboard box under the table in the Atrium.
Gia Is Away This Week — Gia is in Scotland from Monday, March 6 through Monday, March 13, celebrating her mother-in-law’s 90th birthday. David will attend to any pastoral emergencies in her absence.
St. Patrick’s Potluck – 6:00 p.m. Kilbourne Hall, Saturday, March 18. All are invited to celebrate an Irish holiday with fellowship, fun and food in Kilbourne Hall. The main dish will be provided. Sides (salads, veggies, breads) and dessert are welcome. Please sign up on the clipboard in the atrium or email Miriam Utter at miutter@hotmail.com with your name and dish.
Say Cheese! – Did you know that you can add your photo to the Church Directory through the Ministry One app? It’s easy! Start by opening the app. Select the “Profile” box. Select “edit profile” then touch the circle above your name. You can choose to use a picture of yourself from your library or take a picture. Then, save or cancel if you want to retake the photo. Save once you are finished. Help put a face to a name and add or update your photo today! Printed instructions for downloading the Ministry One app are on the Atrium information table.
Singles Dining Out – will enjoy an authentic Japanese dining experience at Akai Hana on Tuesday, March 14, at 6:00 pm. Singles Dining Out is an informal group of St. John’s parishioners and friends, always happy to welcome new participants. Singles and married individuals who will be attending without their spouse are welcome to participate, and feel free to invite a friend who is not a member of St. John’s. Ronald McDonald House Wish List Drive – Coming in March, The Outreach and Social Justice Committee will be holding a Travel Size Toiletry Kit Wish List donation drive for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Columbus. The Wish List includes TRAVEL SIZE items used in each guest room of the House. As you do your regular shopping please pick up some Wish List items: travel size shampoo, travel size conditioner, travel size soap, travel size body wash, and travel size body lotion. Facing Loss – March 20 at 1:00pm in the Atrium, the program will be “The Gift of Years and Our Spiritual Life.” Our presenter is Kathy McFalls whose career was in Social Work. She is experienced in Elder Care and Dementia. We welcome all those experiencing loss or care giving and those who wish to support them. Questions? Worthington Interfaith Neighbors (WIN) 2023 Conversation Partners Program—WIN invites you to be a partner in its Conversation Partners Program (for adults 18 years and older). We are looking for people who want to build on their Functional English conversation skills and people who want to serve as mentors.
This program provides two kinds of opportunities for participation in a group setting that is casual, safe, and supportive:
Persons wanting to practice Conversational English and learn more about American culture and also be willing to share about their own native languages, cultures, faith traditions, and life experiences.
Persons wanting to serve as English Language Conversation Mentors and share information about American culture and also be interested in learning about other languages, cultures, and faith traditions.
Sixteen sessions will be held April 4th through November 21st on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon at the Worthington United Methodist Church. Each 1 ½ hour session will focus on a specific topic (for example, COTA, Banking, Public Schools, and Food Shopping). There will be a featured speaker then break-out groups to discuss the specific topic which will provide opportunities to practice Conversational English. St. John’s Book Club – will be taking a short hiatus to allow members to participate in the special Lenten Class. We will begin meeting again on Wednesday, April 12 at 7 p.m. on Zoom. We will continue reading The Best Christian Short Stories, edited by Bret Lott. You should be ready to discuss two of the short stories: (1) The Results of a Dog Going Blind, and (2) Ax of the Apostles. St. John’s and Ronald McDonald House (RMH) Team Cuisine – You are invited to join fellow parishioners on Wednesday, March 22 for a hands-on event at the RMH in Columbus. St. John’s will be taking part in the RMH Team Cuisine program to prepare dinner for families staying at the RMH. Consider joining in this community outreach. We are in need of 6 – 12 volunteers, aged 15 years and older. All volunteers must be Covid vaccinated. We will be preparing and serving dinner with a professional chef from 3:30 until 7:00 p.m.

Names added to that sheet will remain on the prayer list for three weeks, or shorter if requested. Last names are not used. If you wish prayers to be continued, simply list the name on the prayer list again. Of course, you may always add names aloud during the prayers of the people.
