Godly Play Intergenerational Event – Join us today at 10:15am in Kilbourne Hall for our next intergenerational event. We’ll share a lesson from the Godly Play Montessori curriculum, which is what we use between the services with our 3-11 year olds. This is a chance to see what Godly Play is like – and it’s enjoyable and thought-provoking for folks of all ages!
…and because of that Godly Play event:
There’ll be no Youth Roundtable this Sunday, because we want this event to truly be for all ages! There also won’t be Godly Play up in our classroom like normal since we’re doing it in Kilbourne.
There will be Children’s Church this Sunday though! Children ages 3-11 who attend the 9:00 service are invited to Children’s Church. Please meet at the front step after the collect to follow the crucifer to the upstairs room. We’ll return to “big church” at the Peace.
Youth Group meets Sundays at 2 p.m. – We meet weekly, along with youth from St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. This week we’ll gather at St. Stephen’s at 30 W. Woodruff Ave. on the Ohio State campus from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. 6th -12th graders welcome, and there will be snacks!
In the Garden – St. John’s will be serving dinner at Trinity Church downtown (Broad and Third, SE corner) next Sunday, March 26. We are serving meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy, green bean casserole and fruit. If you can help by preparing a dish or bringing a side item, or serving the meal at Trinity from noon until 2:00pm, please sign up this Sunday using the sheet on the atrium table. All food needs to be brought to church on Sunday, February 26 by 11:15 and deposited in the bins under the table, or contact Karen (614.378.2008 or kgraham.ohio@gmail.com) to make other arrangements. ~ Karen Graham for the OSJ Committee
Easter Flowers – The Flower Guild is asking the congregation for donations for Easter Flowers. You can place your donations in the envelopes in the pews marked “Easter Flowers”. You may also fill out a form found in the Atrium where you give the flowers in Memory of, in Honor of, or in Thanksgiving for a special person. Place this form in offertory plate along with your donation. We would like all donations by Sunday, April 2nd. If you have any questions, please contact Donna Somerville at (614)208-8573.
St. John’s Supports Ronald McDonald House! St. John’s Outreach and Social Justice Committee is sponsoring a “Travel Size Toiletry Kit Donation Drive” from March 19 until April 9. Families staying at the RMH are provided with hotel style toiletry kits to make their stay more comfortable. OSJ will be collecting donations of travel size shampoo, body wash, hand soap, and body lotion to build the kits. To be sure that we are able to make complete kits, please take a card(s) from the display in the Atrium and bring your donation back any time during the “Travel Size Toiletry Kit Donation Drive”. Facing Loss – March 20 at 1:00pm in the Atrium, for our program we will have Michele Johnson, a Stephen Minister from St. Marks Episcopal Church. She will explain the process and what she brings to their congregation. If you have always wondered what is involved please join us in the St. John’s Atrium. Our WPC congregation utilizes these hands and heart of God.
Hello! My Name Is – Do you need a nametag? Maybe you are new to St. John’s or maybe you have been around so long that you need a new name tag. Well, the Newcomers Committee is here to help! You may request a nametag at any time, and we will make one for you. We will need you to print your name and hometown, on the sheet on the clipboard on the Atrium Information table.
March 27 Loss Lunch – Our 4th Monday LOSS LUNCH will take place as usual at La Chatelaine in Worthington on March 27 at NOON for a good meal and warm fellowship. No need for a reservation. Just go through the line and come to the back room. All are welcome! Our 3rd Monday FACING LOSS for April 17 at 1pm will feature Rose Beeson, Geriatric nurse and Alzheimer’s specialist. This meeting is for those into caregiving or having helpful knowledge. Those afflicted should not attend. The program will be “The Gift of Years and Our Spiritual Life.” We welcome all those experiencing loss or care giving and those who wish to support them. Questions? A Church Alive: Hearing the Stories of a Queer Church with AIDS – Friday, March 24 at 7pm at Trinity on Capitol Square. In 1987 the Metropolitan Community Church of San Francisco (MCCSF) started recording their worship services. The queer-identified church was located in the Castro, the city’s gay neighborhood and ground zero of the AIDS epidemic there. They recorded the services so that people too sick to attend could still be part of church life. And the recordings that remain tell vivid stories about what the years before AIDS treatment were like for a community of queer believers who turned to church to get through a crisis. Historian Lynne Gerber has been working with MCCSF’s archive of recordings for over a decade. In 2021 she and two co-authors partnered with OSU’s American Religious Sounds Project (ARSP) to create “The Pink and Purple Church in the Castro,” an online gallery exhibit that tells the story of MCCSF largely through its audio recordings. Gerber and ARSP co-director Isaac Weiner will be in conversation about MCCSF’s history and its archive, what it tells us about queer faith and the history of AIDS, and how sound can evoke religious stories, worlds, and lives.

If you wish prayers to be continued, simply list the name on the prayer list again. Of course, you may always add names aloud during the prayers of the people.
