Summer Sundays! During the 9:00 a.m. worship services this summer, and the 10:00 a.m. service on June 25, kids ages 3-11 are invited to join us for Summer Sundays – two Safe Church-trained adults will take kids to spend some time on our playground (or a classroom if there’s rain) for the first half of the service, returning in time for communion.

The Organ Committee Wants to Hear from You — Greetings from the organ committee! We are seeking everyone’s input on several questions as we consider future possibilities for St. John’s main pipe organ. We would also like to give anyone interested a chance to meet with members of the committee to listen to comments or answer questions that you may have regarding the committee’s work. We are setting up four small group meetings in June, two of which will be in person at the church in Kilbourne Hall (on June 20th and June 28th) and two of which will be via Zoom (on June 22nd and June 26th). All four sessions will be held at 7:00pm. Learn More About Issue 1 on July 12 at 7:00 p.m. at St. John’s Please join us on Wednesday evening, July 12 at 7:00pm as the Adult Formation Committee of St. John’s hosts an informational meeting to help us all understand what’s at stake if Issue 1 passes in the specially called election on August 8. Vote No on Issue 1 is a bi-partisan group of concerned citizens who have come together to oppose Issue 1. Former Governor Kasich as well as former Governors Strickland and Celeste have joined with a wide range of civic groups, businesses, faith-based groups, and individual Ohioans to oppose this ballot initiative. A member of the leadership team of Vote No on Issue 1 will be present to share information about Issue 1 and answer questions you might have. Please save the date – Wednesday, July 12 at 7:00PM at St. John’s – to join us and learn more. Please invite your friends and plan to join us to lend your voice to this important civic conversation. All are welcome to attend!
Ice Cream after VBS on Monday – Following a long-standing tradition, the whole parish is invited to get Graeter’s after the final session of Vacation Bible School concludes this Monday, June 26, around 7:30pm. St. John’s will treat VBS children and volunteers. Everyone else, please purchase your treats and meet up on the Village Green in front of St. John’s!
Worthington Interfaith Neighbors presents – Sharing Our Stories. Wednesday, June 28, 7:00 p.m. in-person at the Old Worthington Library and via Zoom. Sunita S. Byg, A Story of Two Cultures. Sunita is a person of Indian Origin who grew up in Columbus. To request a Zoom invitation or YouTube link, please email windiversity@gmail.com. There is no charge for the program and all are welcome.
Gia Is On Vacation from Friday, June 30 to Saturday, July 22. David is available to attend to pastoral needs in her absence.

Worthington Interfaith Neighbors Liaison – The Outreach and Social Justice Committee is seeking an individual interested in making community connections to be St. John’s liaison with WIN. This individual would coordinate our church’s participation in the Annual WIN Festival of Faiths and Nations, a multidenominational gathering of places of worship at Selby Park on August 20, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. The committee will give its full support to this individual in planning and staffing our display. Interested individuals can contact Jean Duncan or Lily Balukjian (Thompson) for more information.
St. Johns Book Club – will be on hiatus during the summer. We will be starting up again in September, when we will begin a study of the poetry of W.B. Yeats. If you are interested in being a participant in the fall study there are a few things you can do to prepare. Pick out five of your favorite Yeats poems and send the list to me. St. John’s has two separate prayer lists.
To add names to the “public” prayer list as seen above, please call the church office at 614-846-5180, or send an email to VirginiaN@stjohnsworthington.org. Names added to that sheet will remain on the prayer list for three weeks, or shorter if requested. Last names are not used. If you wish prayers to be continued, simply list the name on the prayer list again. Of course, you may always add names aloud during the prayers of the people.
