Summer Sundays! During the 9:00 a.m. worship services this summer, kids ages 3-11 are invited to join us for Summer Sundays – two Safe Church-trained adults will take kids to spend some time on our playground (or a classroom if there’s rain) for the first half of the service, returning in time for communion.
Gia Is On Vacation from until Saturday, July 22. David is available to attend to pastoral needs in her absence.
Learn More About Issue 1 on July 12 at 7:00 p.m. at St. John’s Please join us on Wednesday evening, July 12 at 7:00pm as the Adult Formation Committee of St. John’s hosts an informational meeting to help us all understand what’s at stake if Issue 1 passes in the specially called election on August 8. Vote No on Issue 1 is a bi-partisan group of concerned citizens who have come together to oppose Issue 1. Former Governor Kasich as well as former Governors Strickland and Celeste have joined with a wide range of civic groups, businesses, faith-based groups, and individual Ohioans to oppose this ballot initiative. A member of the leadership team of Vote No on Issue 1 will be present to share information about Issue 1 and answer questions you might have. Please save the date – Wednesday, July 12 at 7:00PM at St. John’s – to join us and learn more. Please invite your friends and plan to join us to lend your voice to this important civic conversation. All are welcome to attend!
Singles Dining Out will gather at NAPA Kitchen and Bar on Tuesday, July 11, at 6:00 pm. NAPA Kitchen and Bar is located at 925 N. The reservation process at NAPA is very strict, so it’s important to RSVP to Dana as soon as possible and no later than Sunday, July 9. Singles Dining Out is an informal group of St. John’s parishioners and friends, always happy to welcome new participants. Singles and married individuals who will be attending without their spouse are welcome to participate, and feel free to invite a friend who is not a member of St. John’s. We hope you can join us for upscale American cuisine on July 11!
Picnic with the Presbyterians – The Membership and Fellowship Committees of Worthington Presbyterian Church would like to invite the congregation of St. John’s Episcopal Church to their Summer Picnic. It will be at Mirolo pavilion on Thursday, July 13 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, opening with welcome and prayer. Vacation Bible School families are encouraged so kids can sing some songs. Facing Loss – Join us in the St. John’s Atrium, Monday, July 17 at 1:00 pm for a presentation by Melanie Miller, a credentialed and registered Yoga and Meditation teacher, experienced with support of caregivers of hospice patients and those with long-term needs. Her subject is “Practices of Yoga and Meditation for Support through Caregiving and Loss.” All are welcome to derive the benefits. If there is sufficient interest, a series of sessions may be offered in the future.

Be a Life Saver! – St. John’s will host a blood drive on July 19, 2:00-7:00 pm, in Kilbourne Hall, with Versiti Blood Center, the main supplier of blood to the Ohio State University Wexner Center. Someone needs blood every 2 seconds, and your donation may help a NICU baby, cancer fighter, sickle cell warrior, transplant patient, trauma survivor, or someone else. All attempting donors will automatically be entered into a sweepstakes for a chance to win $1000 in E-Gift Cards toward streaming or gaming services. Annual PIMIL Luncheon – Saturday, July 22 – Profits used to pay for education of students age 5-20 in Liberia. Come and enjoy American and Liberian cuisine, silent auction, raffle, vendors, music, and taped video message from the Bishop of Liberia. Celebrate with us as we celebrate the 2023 graduation of our PIMIL sponsored students. Tickets are $20 for adults, children up to 18 years old: $10. Donations are accepted! Dinner for In the Garden Sunday, July 23 – The fourth Sunday comes early this month; we will be serving our second summer meal at Trinity on July 23. The menu is easy; no casseroles, just hot dogs, chips, salad, beans, and root beer floats! If you can bring a menu item, please sign up in the atrium on Sunday July 9, or Sunday July 16. Bring food to church on July 23rd by 11:15 or just call or email Eve Herold, 614 846-3736 or eve7125@att.net, to make other arrangements. Volunteers to serve at Trinity that Sunday are also needed. Worthington Interfaith Neighbors Liaison – The Outreach and Social Justice Committee is seeking an individual interested in making community connections to be St. John’s liaison with WIN. This individual would coordinate our church’s participation in the Annual WIN Festival of Faiths and Nations, a multidenominational gathering of places of worship at Selby Park on August 20, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. The committee will give its full support to this individual in planning and staffing our display. Interested individuals can contact Jean Duncan or Lily Balukjian (Thompson) for more information.
